Thinking Sociologically About Religion, Welfare and Healthcare: The British Case
This article outlines the factors thatmust be taken into account if we are to understand fully the religious situation inmodern Europe, including Britain. It references the importantwork on religion and welfare carried out at the Religion and Society Research Centre at Uppsala University. The article also develops the British case, noting the interconnections between religion and welfare on the one hand, and religion and healthcare on the other. It reviews the literature in this field as well as the themes that emerge from this body of writing. It then offers a series of case studies to illustrate the points made. A short conclusion draws the threads together.
