Metamorphosen – Musikalischer Wandel im 19. und 20. Jahrhundert

Musik- und kulturgeschichtlicher Wandel unterliegen Ursachen und Auslösern, die ebenso vielfältig wie modifizierbar erscheinen. Dazu zählen gesellschaftliche, individuelle, kulturelle wie politische Initialmomente, die es in ihrer Ausformung und ihrem Nachhall zu untersuchen gilt. Mit dem 19. und 20 Jahrhundert stehen zwei Zeitalter im Fokus, in denen sich Wandel in einer besonderen Beschleunigung und Konsequenz vollzieht.

Transitions and changes in music and cultural history are linked to causes and triggers that appear to be as diverse as they are modifiable. These include social, individual, cultural and political moments of ignition. They are analysed in terms of form and reverberations. Refering to the 19th and 20th centuries, the focus is on two eras in which change took place with particular acceleration and consistency. The concepts of change, transformation (as fundamental change) and that of transfer in their interaction with music provide a particular insight into the music of that era in particular.
